Apre al pubblico il 7 settembre 2022 a Palazzo della Ragione a Mantova, in concomitanza con il Festivaletteratura, la mostra dedicata a Fortunato Depero, intelligente creatore dell’estetica futurista teorizzata in Ricostruzione futurista dell’Universo, firmato con Giacomo Balla nel 1915.
La rassegna è un viaggio attraverso molteplici ambiti creativi, scandita nelle tre tappe geografiche del suo percorso artistico.
A Capri prende il via una delle stagioni più creative che avrà il suo acme tra il 1916 e il 1918, quella legata all’avventura teatrale vissuta con lo svizzero Gilbert Clavel, suo sodale, ripercorsa attraverso alcuni disegni che appartennero a Clavel stesso. Esposto anche un importante capolavoro, come Meccanica di ballerina, del 1917, e alcune bellissime chine dedicate al progetto di Istituto per suicidi, preludio alla nascita dell’automa con i Balli plastici.
A Rovereto nel 1919, finita la guerra, Depero dà vita a un suo grande sogno, quello di aprire una casa d’arte specializzata nel settore della grafica pubblicitaria, dell’arredo e delle arti applicate e, in particolare, in quello delle tarsie in panno che avranno un grande successo a Parigi, all’Exposition internationale des arts décoratifs et industriels modernes, "aperta a tutti gli industriali i cui prodotti siano artistici nel carattere e mostrino chiaramente una tendenza moderna".
Infine, dopo i successi ottenuti nelle principali esposizioni nazionali e internazionali, Depero e la moglie Rosetta si trasferiscono a New York nel 1928 aprendo la Depero’s Futurist House, una sorta di filiale americana della casa d’arte di Rovereto.
L’impegno pubblicitario di Depero si concretizza con collaborazioni con marchi di spicco, e prepara numerosi progetti di copertine per American Printer, Vogue, Vanity Fair, oltre a realizzare le scenografie per New Babel.
